Happy Birthday Bodie!

Happy 3rd Birthday to the cat who gives us so many reasons NOT to like him, but also makes it hard not to love him despite that! 😂💓

He honestly has been a bright spot this past year with his antics, and most days we are so thankful he is ours!!

We gave him some whipped cream... and he even got the red plate!

We love you Bodie James!

Back to School!

Evelyn got to go TO school for the first time in over a year today!! She will go two full days a week and the other two days will be from home via zoom (just like they have been). The fact that she get so go ALL day was one of the main reasons for our decision to send her back to the classroom. We are keeping Matthew in CDl  because he would only go for TWO hours a day. It was not worth it to him, and not worth the risk for us.

There was an extra swing in her step and a lightness about Evelyn when she got home from school. She was SO happy to be out of the house and in an actual classroom with friends. We are so happy for her!

Granted, she only gets to be in the classroom for 18 days before school wraps us, but she will take what she can get and is super excited to be "back".

And so our we. Love her so much!!

Beach Getaway

Ahhhhh.... we just got home from a 4 day trip to the beach. It has been 3 years since we've done a beach trip due to other plans and of course COVID. The kids had Friday off from school so we took them out halfway thru Thursday and headed off to one of our favorite places in the world.

My view from the deck...I took a few minutes right when we arrived to go sit and enjoy the view for a few minutes and breath the amazing sea air.  We got setttled and headed right down to put our toes in the sand.

One of my favorite shots of the whole trip!!

I am a sucker for sunset photos, especially from the condos where we always stay...

Sunset....day one.

The next morning Doug and I went for a long walk on the beach while the kids woke up a bit, then we headed to the tide pools to explore.

We usually are at the beach in July or August. The rocks are not covered with the green seaweed stuff during that time. It was fun to see the different things that are here this time of year!

Me... not wanting my family to slip off a rock and die...haha! I am the least adventuresome of the four of us.. can you tell? 😂
Love these three!!

We were so fortunate to have sunny and beautiful weather the entire weekend and played in the water a ton!

Evelyn is yelling at me "MOM! Never turn your back on the ocean!" as a big wave was headed to us...haha!

The kids built a cool sand castle, too!

....and Doug got in a good nap 😁

Matthew skipping rocks with dad...
...while the girls watch and post for selfies 😂

Sunset...night two.

Morning coffee on the deck watching the fog clear. So peaceful...

We decided to walk to Dutch Bros. via "the forest" (a back way thru the campground we have stayed at) but that path was closed AND Dutch Bros. has closed their walk-up window due to COVID, so we kept walking and ended up walking over a mile thru town to find another coffee shop.
It was worth it tho... good coffee and good exercise. And Lincoln City is a cute town!

The kids' sandcastle was destroyed by other kids after we went in last night.booo!! But they decided to build an even bigger one.

...with a frisbee break in the midde!
Final product.

It had been hard to find COVID vaccine appointments at home, so since we were going to be in Lincoln City I checked to see availiblilty and BOOM! We got appointments for Saturday afternoon! No line, no waiting. Perfect!

Yay for science!!

My busy boy taking a break to take in the view....

We took one last walk on the beach after dinner...

Sunset, our last night.

We got up Sunday and headed to Pig-N-Pancake for breakfast before heading home. It was SO nice to get away. Our hearts needed the break and needed each other. Thankful and grateful.
