Mom M Turns 80!!

Doug's mom turned 80 yesterday so today we had a family gathering in Dallas to celebrate. It was the first time in over 18 months we've all been together and it was so lovely!

Lots and lots of cousin time had today, much to their delight! So grateful for the love all of the Morris grandkids share! 💓

Zach and his girlfriend Jaysea

Silliness abounds with this crew... especially when I am trying to get a nice picture!!

Love my sisters-in-loves! 💓

Over the years, there have been several walks from Grandma and Grandad's house to the school playground up the road. Today was no exception!

Happy Birthday Mom!!

Fun Day/Bad Day on the Water

Last Friday we took our friends (and our senior pastor) the Ruetchle's out on the boat for the evening.

The weather was perfect!

Evelyn, Matthew and Zephyr  on the tube. They managed to hang on and not get thrown off, which ended up being a HUGE blessing. Zephyr actually had his brother's Air Pods in his suit pocket!! 😮 Crisis averted!

Steve and Aiden.

Evelyn wanted a break from the tube so the boys went and asked Doug to go a little more crazy! 😂 They had the best time... and only got tossed off a few times...haha!

Sadly things took a turn for the worse right as we were heading back into the dock. Doug misread the bouy markings and we hit a rock going over 20mph! 😖 The boat hit hard and we immediately new something was wrong. BUT... the Lord was with us! No one was hurt and we made it back to shore (albeit very slowly) and got the boat out of the water before it got too dark!

We took her in to the marine shop for a look. Basically our whole outdrive was busted. 😓 We are grateful for insurance that will cover the repair. The parts need to be ordered and they told us it may be a while before we get her back. We are praying we can get the boat back on the water again before summer is over.

We are bummed but so thankful for a fun night with gracious friends and are looking forward to more boating again soon!

First and Last Middle School Youth Group

Usually our church's youth ministry takes the summer off from weekly meetings. With the pandemic, there hasn't been in person meetings until last month, and we have a new youth pastor who wants to work on connecting and building relationships. So youth ministry decided to keep meeting thru the summer.

Matthew is starting middle school in the fall and incoming 6th graders were invited to start going to youth group tonight. How is my baby boy going into middle school?!?

I hid my tears and showed my pride in my boy as he stepped out of the car and headed into church with  an "I've got this" attutude. I love this kid...

AND... while Matthew went to youth group for the first time, Evelyn and her friends went to middle school youth group for the LAST time! They will join the high schoolers this Sunday as incoming freshman (WHAT?!?).

Love these girls!
(With them is Suki, our Senior Pastor's dog)

They both had a fun evening and Matthew says he is excited to go back. 😀

July Fourth Weekend

 Happy BIrthday America!

We had a fun weekend celebrating our nation's birth. Cannon ended up spending the weekend with us and we did lots of fun stuff.

Mom and Doug had us over for dinner Saturday,

Matthew and Cannon played cornhole
Hungry kids...
Doug the grill master. We had a lovely time with good food and good conversation.

We got home and had a rousing game of Life.

LOTS of laughter for sure.

Sunday (the 4th) we had a chill morning then the kids swam most of the afternoon.

Then it was off to In and Out down in Keizer for dinner! Depending if we are in town or not, this may become a tradition in the coming years.
Love these faces.

We left around 3:45 knowing there would probably be a long wait in the drive thru line. We were suprised to get there and only had to wait about 15-20 minutes! We had our food by 4:45 and headed to a local park in Keizer to eat.

We got home and the kids got back in the pool again for some evening swimming.

Due to the heat and dry land around us, we didn't get any fireworks this year. But there were plenty of them going off around us. The kids went outside to watch. The lighing wasn't great so I lack good photos, but there was SO much sillines!

Monday was a super fun boat day. Juliet and Cannon joined us and we headed out to West Linn to a new boat ramp, Bernert Landing.

Off we go! Doug actually bought a used "buddy seat" to install in front so we can take two extra kids. It worked great!

Why, yes.. that IS four people on our three person tube! They wanted to try it and for some odd reason I allowed it..haha! They got tossed off good a couple of times and decided it probably wasn't the best idea, but they had so much fun!

Ice cream to end our day was necessary 😀

Thankful for our country, thankful for sunshine, and thankful for a super fun weekend!
