Let it Go! Evelyn;s Birthday Party!

It was a Frozen themed birthday party for Evelyn this year, as she along with millions of others have fallen in love with the movie since it was released late last year. She is an Elsa fan, so it was more of an Elsa party, but a Frozen theme nonetheless. It was a super fun day and she had a wonderful time being celebrated!

Testing out Elsa's throne!

Oh daddy......
My big girl....
Doug did a great job decoration the kitchen area... he is so helpful when we do parties!
I am so thankful I get to be her mom...
...his too!
Guests arriving... Evelyn is blessed with such great friends!
Piled on the bed...
Craft time! The girls made snow globes and had fun chatting

So..  earlier this summer we were at the farmer's market and there were girls there dressed up as princesses. Turns out these two high schoolers started their own business and do parties dressed up as princesses, singing and doing different sorts of activities at very reasonable prices. I hired Elliana to come as Elsa.. and she was AMAZING and a huge hit.. totally worth the money!

This girl can SING!
Not sure if she was mid song or just in awe of what she was witnessing! HA!

All the guests....

Alexis
Elle
Regan
Juliet
Lillian
Tenaya
Hannah
Ellie
Heidi
Cassandra
Helena
...and my sweet boy!
The whole gang..

Group hug! They were sad to see Elsa go!
Evelyn was blessed with MANY thoughtful gifts!
Cake time!

Eating again... I had peppermint oreos.. they didn't last long!

A few of the girls stayed after and watched the Frozen movie while Doug and I cleaned up. It really was a fun party and I wasn't nearly as tired as I thought I would be when it was done. So thankful that Evelyn had such a special day and as she said, will remember it "forever"!

Happy Birthday Matthew!

Oh my sweet boy... how can you be FIVE? Time has passed so quickly yet the joy you bring to all of us on a daily basis is never quick to pass. Your sister was sick today and you were so compassionate and thoughtful about it, even tho our plans for your day had to change. You didn't mind, and you still said it was an "awesome" day. That's just who you are. And oh, how thankful we are for you!

You REALLY wanted "decorations" and were pleased as punch to find balloons and a sign awaiting you when you woke up.

First things first... PRESENTS!! Since daddy had to go to work, you just opened your sister's gift to you.
I love your sweet face! You were SO happy to get some Paw Patrol things!

It wouldn't be a birthday without cinnamon rolls with a candle!
Your sweet face. Those folded hands. They melt me....
Then it was off to school. You knew you would be celebrated but not sure what it was going to be like. You were a bit unsure and nervous about it, but agreed to just have fun with it!

Getting to pick a prize from the prize box and having the class sing was a bit uncomfortable for you, but you smiled and enjoyed it too!
Your "special seat" and crown you got for the day!

After school, we had lunch and went to work on one of MANY lego sets he had received. Since Doug's folks had planned on meeting us for dinner to celebrate (but we had to cancel due to Evelyn's fever...boo!) so since were going to be up here anyway, they asked if they could stop by with a "special surprise" for the birthday boy. Matthew knew EXACTLY what that meant!

When Evelyn was 4 she had asked Grandad (a very skilled woodworker) if he would build her a doll house, and build her a doll  house he did! She still LOVES it and it is one of her prized possessions! So when Matthew was not quite 4, he asked Grandad if maybe he could build him a car garage someday. He must have just tucked that into his sweet head because when I told him who was coming to visit and with what, he got a big smile and said sheepishly, "Do you think its my car garage?" ;)

Let's just say he was watching for them and ran out to greet them when they arrived!
Could it be????
YES!!!!
Happy boy and proud Grandad!

This thing is AMAZING, complete with a gas station, a car wash and a lift, not to mention a cool ramp!
Grandma, Matthew and Evelyn checking it out

He was mesmerized! It is now in his room and well loved!

Doug got home (with Red Robin to celebrate since our original plans were cancelled) and we finished opening gifts.
He was hoping it was something in particular...

..and it was! Yay for more legos!
He has wanted this race car set for MONTHS! Very happy boy!

After dinner we watched the movie Planes and had birthday sundaes.. a perfect end to his day!

My sweet boy,  we love you so very much. You are thoughtful, kind, hard working and bring a smile to our faces and to our hearts. We are so thankful God gave you to us FIVE years ago!

Happy Birthday Son!
