Cat and Mouse

Oh my goodness! Our crazy cat!

Today Matthew and I were sitting outside on the patio enjoying the sunshine when Bodie comes into the backyard carrying a mouse in his mouth. I figure it was already dead. But when he put the mouse down by our treehouse, it ran away and stopped right under our fence, between our yard and the neigbors. He seriously was playing dead (and doing a fairly good job of it, I may add) Bodie ran to it, of course and was just staring at it, but the mouse didn't budge.

Then, all of a sudden the mouse pops up and runs into the other yard. Bodie quickly jumps the fence and starts chasing the mouse. The mouse at this point...no joke.. CLIMBS THE FENCE. Bodie jumped back up to the top of the fence but the mouse just clung to a fence board just below where Bodie was laying in wait.

See the mouse hang there? It was hilarous! Bodie had NO idea it was there!

They both sat there very still for quite some time. The mouse was there for seriously 5 minutes when all of a sudden, it crawled up to the top of the fence RIGHT in front of Bodie.

At this point Evelyn started filming and the most amazing thing happened. You need to click on the link (or cut and paste to a new browser)  to watch.

I had Evelyn stop filming because I thought for sure Bodie was going to kill the mouse at that point. BUT... the mouse ended up getting away and another chase across the neighbors yard ensued. And you know what? The mouse got away!! HAHA!!

Bodie is a hunter and usually has no problem catching birds and mice. This time the mouse won..and the cat was left wondering what the heck happened.

It was seriously one of the funniest things we have ever seen. And yes, I did submit it to America's Funniest Home videos after MANY people suggested I do so..haha!

Oh, our crazy cat!!

Easter 2021

Last Easter, due to COVID, it was just the four of us at home. We had a lovely day but sure missed being with family. With my mom and her Doug being fully vaccinated and also being in our "bubble" we got to spend Easter with them. Doug's Aunt Mary, who is also fully vaccinated, came along as well. It was a lovely day!

I saw this photo and it reminded me of one I took of her when she was little...

Same stairs...almost same spot. She was about 18 months old here. Sweet baby Evelyn!

Gluten Free Berry Trifle for dessert was a hit!

Happy Easter! He is Risen!

Spring Break Getaway

We just returned from our first family getaway (other than our camping trip last summer) in over a year!! It was so good to get out of town, stay in an actual hotel for a couple of nights, and have a lot of fun!

We decided to stay close and drove to the gorge to hike and bike and play around for a few days. We had the best time!

Heading out!

Our first stop was Starvation Creek Falls, a beautiful area with an interesting story. We enjoyed a 2 mile hike there.

We decided to be crazy and do TWO hikes in one day, and next headed across the Bridge of the Gods to Beacon Rock. It started to rain as we set out on this steep hike. It wasn't very fun the first half of the way up, but it stopped raining and the sun came out to make it worth the climb!

We made it!!

We checked into our hotel in Cascade Locks and went and had a yummy dinner.
These two.... so silly!

Thankfully the hotel pool was open so after dinner the kids swam and Doug and I sat in the hot tub. It was heavenly!

There wasn't much on TV so we started watching and were fascinated by the show "Extreme Couponing"..haha!

The next morning we explored Cascade Locks. What a fun little town with a very cool history!

One of my favorite photos of the trip..haha!

Tried to catch a sweet moment but Evelyn was on to me..haha!

That afternoon we drove to Hood River and rode the Mosier Twin Tunnel Trail. It was pretty difficult at time due to the wind and the steep inclines but we still had fun and persevered and enjoyed the amazing views. We live in such a beautiful place!

We got back to the hotel and walked along the river before dinner...

Evelyn making her own lemon water at dinner... you had to be there, but it was pretty funny!

Matthew found a C8 in the parking lot on our way to breakfast on our last morning. He was so excited!

It was 1030 in the morrning when we headed for home but we HAD to stop at the famous Eastwind Drive In for a HUGE ice cream cone. These are SMALLS!! So good!

We headed home from here, thankful for time away together and for God's creations!
